OT(a bit anyway): Outlook advise for Vista dual boot

I'm dual booting to Vista. An admitted glutton for punishment, I'm running Office 2007 with Outlook '07 under both it and XP.
Question(or two): Would I be asking for trouble having both installs of Outlook using the same PST file? This is in the interests of keeping that dB updated whether I'm getting mail, etc. under either OS.
My rather manual method for getting that done right now is bi-directionally syncing (with the PowerDesk file manager sync tool under XP) the two PSTs in their default install paths under both OS installations.
Performance note: Under that scenario, I've noted that I have to open my contacts view before I can access e-mail addresses on the mail side. On occasion it seems I've also had to "open" the PST I'm pointing at to do the same. Curious, is this because the last install using its PST (making it "newer" for syncing) somehow locks some aspects of the PST file/dB?

Why do you use this complex syncing system?
Just
point both Outlook's to the same PST on a data partition. It's simple, more secure and will perform better. I've never tryed it but I think it should work without problems.
Regards, Angel.

I would just set up the account using the PST file and then run them each seperately, and select "DO not delete messages from server" That way each version(on all computers) will get my email...and when I kill my current computer and set up my next, I still have access to my mail...
